i'm a 30 year old straight man, and i cry at tv shows, and certain
artist's songs. but I'm not embarrassed by it, because i find that
media and art can genuinely touch the soul and stir the motions if
done right. i've always been in touch with my emotions and always
able to feel the full extent of the day to day things i experience,
and i believe that the stereotype that men don't cry and should be
tough and rugged is tired and should be forgotten, because i
believe it is most important to be in touch with what goes on
around you. as if not, are you truly making a deep connection with
life? if you spend your whole life holding back, not associating
with others emotions and experiencing things on a whole wide
spectrum, how can you ever truly feel what it is like to be alive.
the world is a vast, living breathing space filled with billions of
people, each one different, yet also the same. and i believe that
by trying to be a man's man, i am only lying to myself that i have
to fit what someone else feels i should be, and i will never do
that. so i will continue to write, and listen to songs that make me
cry, or make me want to shout and scream, or make me want to think,
and i will. |
